Encaustic Day 2

I already missed a day but I'm going to do a 3rd one tonight that will be an improvement (I hope) on this one. So far what I'm loving is texture and pattern. It's foreign for me to work without a representational image to sort of anchor the abstract but that is what I'm trying to do. To stay mostly abstract.

It's a fun and interesting challenge for myself. It's hard not to want to pop in some literal subject matter.

Okay, that's it for today. I'll be very surprised if I can stick with this for a month, We'll see.

BTW, one reader suggested using soda crackers in the place of graham crackers in the toffee recipe. She said that she's had it both ways and I can imagine that salty toffee instead of sweet would be amazing.

Judy these have such wonderful interest I hope you continue. I have seen abstract encaustics in a show this summer and they were beautiful. Yours are strong with intersting texture and details. Keep at it my friend. You have the eye for this!!!!

A new style for you, but wow!

What fabulous texture, I love the little circles, like mini craters. The waxy sheen reminds me of much loved well seasoned furniture, I can almost smell the wax.

Love this abstract waxy wonderfulness. Hard not to touch the screen. Very, very fun.

And I love that my verification word here is crows! They are always with me, but this year much more so. A perfect hat tip to 2010.

Okay, this is even better than Ooozy, above. I know what you mean about the representational bits! I like including something like that, just as a reference point for WHAT exactly, got all abstracted!

This piece is actually really fascinating.

this year, I've been trying to work more abstractly too - it is HARD to not stick in an image (tho, unlike you, I don't paint them beautifully).
oh how I wish I could have a play day with you in your studio - I am in love with wax but have no one to learn from.
but then all of life is an experiment - thanks for sharing yours - Sherry
